Honouring the Elderly
July 11 holds profound significance in human history. On this day in 1987, the world’s population reached 5 billion. In 1989, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) designated it as International Population Day, which was later formalised by the UN General Assembly in 1990 (resolution 45/216). The first World Population Day was observed on 11 July 1990, with participation from over 90 countries.
