Meaning of the Lenten Season
The Lenten Season could be called “the acceptable time, the day of salvation”(2 Cor 6,2). It is the period of the Liturgical Year, which begins with Ash Wednesday and ends with Holy Saturday, comprising 40 days in memory of the fast of ‘40 days and 40 nights’, undertaken by the Lord Jesus, in the desert, before beginning his public ministry.
