Simon Peter’s Encounter With Jesus: A Grooming of a Leader

It is paradoxical that Simon Peter, introduced by his brother Andrew, became leader of the Apostles and of the Church that Jesus founded. From the very beginning of his meeting with Simon Peter, Jesus recognised Peter’s potential as a leader. Throughout the Gospels, Jesus continued to actively shape and refine Peter, preparing him for a critical role among the Apostles and in the early Church, for Peter had some rough edges to be chiselled.
