Pray as though everything depended on God, and work/act as if everything depended on you!
This maxim has been attributed to St Ignatius of Loyola and is generally called the ‘Ignatian Paradox’. A paradox means a statement that is seemingly contradictory or opposed to common sense and yet is perhaps true.
