From Yes-No & No-Yes To Yes-Yes & No-No

Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Cycle A - 1 October 2023

Ez 18:25-28; Phil 2:1-11; Mt 21:28-32

“Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one”, states Jesus categorically in Matthew 5:37. Paul seems to get it. “Do I make my plans according to ordinary human standards, ready to say “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time? As surely as God is faithful, our word to you is not “Yes and No”, he affirms in 2 Corinthians 1:17.
